The Drake Software basic tax course introduces new customers to tax preparation
by reviewing IRS terminology and tax law, and by demonstrating how Drake data entry
works with the tax law. Topics include: filing status, dependents, exemptions, standard
deductions, income, child and dependent care credit, Earned Income Credit, Education
Credit, IRAs and Schedule C. No prerequisites are necessary to participate in this
self-study (distance-learning) basic course. Four CPE credits are available to those
who complete the course and make the required grade on the exam. CPE Details
The Drake Software intermediate level tax course is similar to the basic course
but delves more deeply into Schedules A, C, D, E, and F, plus a Clergy Return course
and takes a more thorough look at depreciation. As is the case with the basic course,
the intermediate course is divided into study units with a comprehensive examination
following completion of the course. Four CPE credits are available to those who
complete the course and make the required grade on the exam. CPE Details
The Drake Software Basic Corporate Tax Course explains the various parts of
a corporate 1120 return and shows the student how to use corporate “books” to complete
an 1120 in Drake Software. The course includes an in-depth look at Schedule L, plus
L-1 and L-2 (Assets and Liabilities), M-1 and M-2 (Reconciliation of the Income
Statement and Retained Earnings), Depreciation, and the use of form 4562. The course
consists of three study units followed by a comprehensive examination. No prerequisites
are necessary to participate in this self-study basic course and three CPE credits
are available to those who complete the course and make the required grade on the

The Drake Software Basic S Corporation Tax Course explains the various parts
of a corporate 1120S return and includes how an S Corporation election is made, and
the characteristics of an S Corporation. The course includes an in-depth look at
how the Schedule M-2 (a) Accumulated adjustments account, (b) Other Adjustments
account, and (c) Shareholder’s undistributed taxable income previously taxed amounts
are entered. The course consists of three study units followed by a comprehensive
examination. No prerequisites are necessary to participate in this self-study basic
course and three CPE credits are available to those who complete the course and make

The Drake Software Basic Partnership Tax Course describes and explains the
various parts of a 1065 partnership return and shows the student how to create and
balance a partnership return in Drake Software. The course describes the different
types of partnerships, passive activity, entering data on a K-1, exporting a K-1,
and schedules L, M-1, and M-2. The course consists of three study units followed
by a comprehensive examination. No prerequisites are necessary to participate in
this self-study basic course and two CPE credits are available to those who complete

courses are offered to introduce new clients to Drake Software and refresh current
users. Drake 101 and the Drake 101 Workshop teach the basics of data entry, program
