Prior Year Letter Import



I want to use the letter I created last year. How do I update it into the current year program?

The default letters supplied with the software are designed to cover most situations. It may not be necessary to continue to update or to customize your letters.

If you want to import letters you created in the prior-year software, follow these steps:

  • Open the current-year of Drake Tax software.
  • Go to Setup > Communications Editor.
  • Click the Open button, select the package (such as individual), and from the drop list select the letter you intend to replace with a prior-year letter. The current version of the letter will be displayed.
  • Click Setup, from the drop list select Update Prior-Year Letter, and follow the prompts.
  • The currently-displayed letter will be replaced by the prior-year letter you selected. Verify the contents.
  • To keep the imported letter, click Save before exiting the Client Communications Editor.

After updating, you can restore a current-year letter supplied with the software by opening the updated letter and selecting Setup > Restore Original Letter. Save the restored letter to keep it.
