EF Message 5244 - Direct Deposit Information Incorrectly Duplicated



I entered the taxpayer’s routing and account numbers correctly, but the return is producing EF Message 5244 (direct deposit information was duplicated incorrectly).

To ensure accuracy, the same bank RTN, Account number, and Type of account must be entered twice.

It is best to type this information in the DD screen directly from the taxpayer’s deposit slip as it cannot be corrected once the return is transmitted.
