Refund Advantage - EF Message 6061 - Phone Number Required



Why am I receiving EF Message 6061 after filling out a Refund Advantage bank product?

When an RA bank product is used for refunds in a 1040 return, there must be a valid daytime, evening, or cell phone number typed in the appropriate field on screen 1 (Name and Address).  


Failure to do so will result in EF Message 6061:

PHONE NUMBER REQUIRED: At least one phone number is required for a taxpayer to qualify for a bank product. Return to screen 1 and enter a valid phone number (daytime, evening, or cell) for the taxpayer.

 

Note: Other bank partners may have similar messages; for example, message 5841, which states that the phone number is missing or invalid.
