This tool is used to customize the colors used in the Drake Tax Program. To access this tool, Go to Setup > Colors.


Program Colors


The Program Colors area provides for customization of colors used on all of the functionality screens. Changes made in Program Colors do not affect data entry colors or form viewing and printing.

    • To use the default colors of the Windows Operating System, select Use Windows System Colors.
    • To customize the colors select Use Custom Created Colors. Program Background Color and Program Text Color are enabled. Click the appropriate color box. The Windows Color Palette opens. Select a color or click Define Custom Color to create a new color.


Data Entry Colors


To customize data entry colors, click the color box to the left of the data entry area and select a color from the Windows Color Palette.

    • Screen Header – dictates the color of the screen title at the top of each data entry screen
    • Section Header – dictates the color of the screen section headers on each data entry screen
    • Column Header – dictates the color of the column headers on each data entry screen
    • Row Number – dictates the color of the row numbers on screen having a row number associated with an entry field
    • Forms Menu Highlight – dictates the color of items for which data entry exists
    • Forms Menu Selected screen – dictates the highlight color of items for which data entry exists, when moused over
    • Override Field Indicator – dictates the color of override fields in data entry
    • Magnify Fields Highlight Color – dictates the color of the focused data entry field
    • Adjustment Field Indicator – dictates the color of adjustment fields in data entry
    • Worksheet Highlight Text – dictates the color of text in data entry for which a worksheet exists
    • Worksheet Highlight Background – dictates the color of the background of a field in data entry for which a worksheet exists
    • Heads Down Label Text – dictates the color of labels in heads down mode
    • Heads Down Label Background – dictates the color of label background in heads down mode
    • Data Entry Field Text  – dictates the color of data entered in data entry field
    • Data Entry Field Background – dictates the background color of data entry fields
    • Worksheet Alternating Background – dictates the alternating background colors on worksheets
    • Fields Flagged for Review – dictates the background color for flagged data entry fields
    • Forms Menu Highlight – dictates the text color for tabs and forms having flagged fields
    • Required Fields Background – dictates the background color for required fields
    • Forms Menu Highlight – With Required Fields – dictates the text color for tabs and forms that have missing required fields
    • LookBack – Prior Year Fields (F11) – dictates the background colors for prior year fields
    • LookBack – Prior Year Data (F12) – dictates the background color for prior year data


Restoring Default Colors


To restore program and data entry colors, click Restore. All previous color changes will be permanently overwritten.
