To set up individual email accounts, from the menu bar, select to Help > Email. From the menu bar of the "Email–Inbox" dialog, select Setup > Accounts to open the Accounts Settings window. On this screen you are able to view a list of email accounts as well as add, remove, edit, and set active accounts.


Note

Before setting up new accounts, have your email account information on hand, including the server settings, Post Office Protocol (POP) connection data. Contact your email provider or research the provider’s POP connection information on the Internet. Drake does not have this information.



Add Account

    1. To add a new account, click the Add Account button at the bottom of the screen. Choose from the Account Type list and click OK.
    2. In the Account Information section, type the Name/Description of the account, e.g., My Tax Business.
    3. In the User Information section, type the name you want your email recipients to see when they receive your email and then type an email address (for instance, MaxsTaxes@EMAILPROVIDER.com).
    4. For most users the variables in the Server Information section have been populated for you. If these options were not automatically entered for you, type the name of the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server. Click More Settings and change the program default settings as needed.
    5. In the Login Information section, give yourself a user name (usually the full email address) and type in the password for the account.
    6. Click Test Settings. The program advises you if more settings are necessary.
    7. Once the Test Settings has successfully completed, click Save.

WARNING: This password is not in the Drake system and there is no way we can retrieve it. Keep a reminder of this password in a secure location.

Remove Account

    1. Select an account from the list provided.
    2. Click Remove Account button.


Edit Account

    1. Select an account from the list provided.
    2. Click Edit Account.
    3. Make the necessary changes.
    4. Click Save.


Set Active Account

    1. Select an account from the list provided.
    2. Click Set Active Account.


Note

POP account types download email messages from the mail server into your email client (Drake Email, Outlook, etc). You the option to “leave a copy of messages on the server.”
