Search EF Database displays information about all client files e-filed to date. Select EF > Search EF Database.

Important: Peer-to-Peer Networks Only – In order for the non-transmitting workstations to view the EF Database, the drive letter assigned to the transmitting machine must be entered in the Shared Drive Letter field in Data Location set up.

 

Searching the Database


    • Search by Specific SSN/EIN – Enter the SSN/EIN in the entry box in the top left corner and click Go. All records matching the entered SSN/EIN are displayed. The most recent record appears first. If there are multiple records for the SSN/EIN, the records are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
    • Search by Name – Enter the last name or business name on which to search and click Go. The name must be a perfect match for any records to be found.
    • Browse all SSNs – Leave the entry box in the top left corner blank and click Go. The first record in the database is displayed.


Multiple Record Browsing


Use PAGE UP, PAGE DOWN, or the LEFT ARROW  and RIGHT ARROW  buttons on the bottom of the screen to browse multiple records, or browse the database.


General Information Tab


This window contains the general transmission information for an e-filed return.


IRS Acknowledgement Information


The IRS Acknowledgement code along with the Acknowledgement Date, Transmission Date, Filing Status, and Refund Amount or Balance Due is displayed in the first column. This information is from the most recent transmission record for the client file.


State Acknowledgement Information


The second column contains the State Acknowledgement Code along with the Acknowledgement Date, Filing Status and Refund Amount or Balance Due Amount. This information is from the most recent transmission record for the client file.


Reject Codes


The third column contains Reject Information. The Reject Code, Form ID, Form Number, and Sequence Number appear.


Bank Codes


    • Bank Code – This code indicates the bank providing the product used, for example RB (Republic bank).
    • Loan Status – This code indicates the status of the loan request. These codes vary by bank; please refer to the guide provided by your bank for more information.


Check Information


At the bottom of the screen is information pertaining to any checks approved or printed for the taxpayer.


Bank and Direct Deposit Information Tab


This screen contains detailed information about any Bank Products for which the client may have applied.


The first column of this screen contains the Bank Codes, Loan Status, ERC Indicator, Decline Reason, Application Date, whether a State ERC was requested, the amount of the State ERC, the Selected Loan Amount, and Prior Debt Withheld.


The second column contains information about any Direct Deposits. These direct deposits indicate what amounts have been paid to the Bank and the Preparer, and the source of these payments.


Fees/Miscellaneous Information Tab


This screen contains general return information, Earned Income Credit, Adjusted Gross Income, Taxpayer PIN(s), and Fee Distributions.


Reject Code Lookup


This search tool can be of assistance in understanding reject codes given by the IRS. Enter the reject code received by the return, click Go. The IRS' explanation of the code is displayed in the lower box.
