The process of having the taxpayer and spouse signing the documents begins in the View/Print mode. The documents are saved to the client's Drake Documents folder. Documents can be signed now or be recalled from Drake Documents and signed later using the "Drake e-Sign" dialog.

Signing

You have either selected the Sign Now option and saved the PDF to your desired location, or are recalling Sign Later saved documents using "Drake e-Sign" dialog.

    1. The Drake e-Sign window is opened and a list appears in the left pane of those (taxpayer, spouse, preparer) who can sign the form, and the forms appear in the right pane.
    2. Double-click the taxpayer, spouse, or select a name and click Sign from the toolbar.
    3. When the Drake e-Sign Capture window is opened, have the client sign the signature pad. The signature appears on the Drake e-Sign Capture window.
    4. Click Apply Sign to store the digital signature.
    5. Close the dialog and continue signing forms as needed or exit the Drake e-Sign window.
    6. Click Save from the toolbar to save signed documents.

Note:

If you choose Sign Later, and you want to retrieve the documents for signing, click Archive > Drake Documents from the View mode toolbar, or from the Data Entry Menu toolbar, click Documents to open the Drake Documents.

Other Options

On the toolbar is the option to Open other documents in the client's folder. Click Print to print the selected documents. In the menu bar above the toolbar, click File to open Drake Documents, save a document, or exit the e-signature dialog.

Under Setup are the selections for the type of connection. Here you can identify which type of signature pad you are using.

    • Signature pad has LCD – Select this if your digital pad shows the signature as it is written.
    • Use USB – is selected as default and recommended.
    • If you use a Com Port, change to that preference, and enter the Com Port number.
