To track the status of a return within the CSM accurately, some user intervention may be required. Data entry has a feature on the main toolbar allowing the preparer or office manager to select a pre-defined status for the return on which they are working. Some of these statuses are automatically set through status changing events that occur through the return preparation life cycle. However, there are some statuses that cannot be predicted by the software and must be set manually by the preparer or office manager.


Return Status Options:

    • New Client – Set by the software when a new file is created.
    • In Progress – Set by the software when the first change is made in data entry.
    • EF Accepted – Set by the software when the acknowledgment processed.
    • EF Rejected – Set by the software when the acknowledgment is processed.
    • EF Pending – Set by the software when the return is e-filed.
    • Printed – Set by the software when the  return is printed through Print Sets and the current status in not Completed or in one of the EF acknowledged states.
    • Complete – Manual setting.
    • Under Extension – Manual setting.
    • On Hold – Manual setting.
    • Under Review – Manual setting.
    • Signed – Manual setting.
    • Delivered – Manual setting.
    • <Custom Status #> – A custom status of your choice, set manually.
