ERO Setup is used to set up Electronic Return Originator information. To access this screen, go to Setup > ERO & Account Information.
Important: Even though you can setup multiple firms, only one ERO is allowed and the ERO information must be completed before e-filing.
General Information
Enter general ERO information in this area. Complete all ERO information to ensure successful transmission of returns. The Telephone Number field is not required, but if entered must have 7 or 10 digits.
- Account Number – Enter the customer account number assigned by Drake Software. This is a 3 to 6 digit number.
- EFIN – Enter the Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) assigned by the IRS.
- Drake Password – Enter the password assigned by Drake Software. The password is found on the packing slip included in the shipment from Drake Software. Additionally, this password is located on the Drake Support website along with your Drake Software serial number.
Note
• You can quickly make your firm #1 information the ERO transmitter information, simply by clicking the corresponding button.
• If firm #1 is not your ERO transmitter, you can still manually enter the needed information but completing the fields below.
- Transmitter Name – Enter the transmitter's name.
- Transmitter Address – Enter the transmitter's location address.
- ZIP, City, State – Enter the transmitter's location address information.
- Federal EIN – Enter the Employer Identification Number, excluding dashes.
- Telephone Number – Enter the 7 or 10 digit transmitter's telephone number. This field is not required for e-filing.
Franchise/Network Information
Note
You must be logged into the program as Admin, or a preparer in the administrator security group, in order to make changes in the Franchise/Network Information section.
If the ERO is also a service bureau, this section must be filled out in order for e-filed returns to contain the correct transmitter information. If the ERO is not a service bureau or if that information is unknown, leave this section blank.
Disclosure or Use of Tax Information by Preparers of Returns
If applicable, enter the name of the service bureau or franchisor to which tax information must be disclosed in order to apply for loan products.
