An index file is a comprehensive list of data on the client files in Drake Tax. Keep index files current by repairing them regularly as part of your general file maintenance routine. Repair Index Files repairs corrupt E-filing (EF), Employer Identification Number (EIN), Client Status Manager (CSM), and Name Index files in the program. To access this option, go to Tools > Repair Index Files.
To repair index files:
1. From the Home window, go to Tools > Repair Index Files.
2. Select the index files to repair. To repair all types of index files, click Repair all indexes.
3. Click Continue.
4. If you have selected Repair all indexes or Name index in Step 2, a Repair Index Files window is opened. Clear the check boxes if you do not wish to include prior-year names or the test and sample returns in the name index repair.
5. Click OK.
6. When the file repair is completed, click Exit to return to the Home window.
