In computing, the Post Office Protocol (POP) is an application-layer Internet standard protocol used by local email clients to retrieve email from a remote server over a TCP/IP connection. POP has been developed through several versions, with version 3 (POP3) being the current standard. Virtually all modern email clients and servers support POP3, and it along with IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) are the two most prevalent Internet standard protocols for email retrieval. Many email service providers e.g., Gmail, Outlook.com and Yahoo! Mail also provide support for either POP3 or IMAP to allow mail to be downloaded. Drake Email POP Settings
POP account types download emails from the mail servers into your email client (Drake Email, Outlook, etc). You are provided an option to “leave a copy of messages on the server.”
Accessing this information
- Go to Drake Email > Account Settings.
- Click Add Account or choose from the list of existing accounts and click Edit Account.
- Within the Sever Information window of the Add/Edit Account (making sure to have the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server information entered), click More Settings.
- Complete the information as needed. The income and outgoing mail server information provided in Add/Edit Account populates the corresponding fields on this screen.
