The Printing Sets feature allows you to print multiple sets of returns for different purposes. For example, when printing a return, you can choose to print a client set or preparer set; the preparer set may be more comprehensive, containing additional forms for record-keeping purposes, while the client’s may be more simple and contain required IRS correspondence. To define printing sets:

  1. From the Drake Tax Home window, go to Setup > Pricing to open the Pricing Setup window.
  2. Choose the applicable Return Type and Fed/State type to filter by federal, state, and city forms.
  3. Locate the desired form. Search the current list by clicking the corresponding icon or pressing F3; use the arrow keys to navigate through the search (or, alternatively, use F3 and Shift+F3). You can also use the column headers to sort forms. To reset the current view (unsort by column headers), exit and reopen Pricing Setup. Make a Sets selection to view a list of all forms included in the chosen set.
  4. Note the various Copy columns. Each Copy column signifies a different set. Double-click and edit the number of copies per form, per set as needed.

Your changes are saved automatically. Repeat this procedure for other forms as needed.

The Pricing Setup window also allows you to copy existing sets over other sets. From the toolbar, click Copy Sets, and choose the set you want copied and which sets will be overridden with the selected set.

Changing Print Sets "On the Fly"

Make Sets changes “on the fly” (in other words, without going to Pricing Setup) for all returns while in View/Print mode. To change the number of copies to print for a certain form within a particular set, complete the following steps while in View/Print mode:

  1. Select a form from the directory tree, and from the toolbar, click Setup > Form Properties (or right-click the form and click Setup > Form Properties). The Properties dialog box is opened.
  2. Adjust the Number of Copies to print for the selected form within one or multiple sets. Any changes made here affect all returns and are reflected in Pricing Setup.
  3. Save your changes.

If using Basic view, adjust set printing by right-clicking a form and selecting Properties.
