What did tax pros have to say about the 2024 filing season? 

More than 1,200 tax professionals responded to Drake Software’s most recent survey covering the past tax season. 

This group of attorneys, CPAs, EAs, and preparers provided insight on a number of issues that affected tax year 2023, including: 

• Identity theft and tax refund theft 

• Amended returns 

• Client growth 

• The April 15 filing deadline 

• Prepared-return volume 

When asked to choose the most challenging tax issue they faced, only 11% cited Employee Retention Credit claims as the most challenging. The top provided result was energy credits at 23%, though most participants selected “Other” with complaints such as incomplete client documentation and an influx of new clients.
