In a District of Columbia individual return, how do I clear red message 160?
EF Message 0160:
Refund Amount under/over Debit Card limit.
The District of Colombia does not allow processing of debit card
refunds over $4000 or for less than $2. Please choose another
refund option.
EF Message 0160 refers to the DC Tax Refund Card, which is the default refund method in an individual DC return.
EF Message 0160 occurs when a DC refund is not in the range of $2 to $4000 and C -Tax Refund Card is the refund method selected on DC screen 2.
Correct the messages by selecting a different refund method. Either:
- Select a paper check
- Select P - Paper Check (from the drop list on line 40 for Refund Options other than Direct Deposit on DC screen 2),
- and clear any DD Direct Deposit screen entries you may have made for DC.
- Select a direct deposit
- Complete the DD screen for DC,
- And clear the line 40 drop list selection (if there is one).
