14120: MS - EF message 0030

Mississippi

How can I clear EF Message 0030 on this individual Mississippi return?

You are referring to this EF message:

Your return must always stay linked, if they have marked do not send federal then you will need to see if there is an Acceptance on the ESUM screen.  If there is not one and they are not sending federal then you cannot send your state.

If they have already sent federal and have an A acceptance then you can go ahead and send your state.

If they will not ever send the federal, then they will have to paper file their return.

Beginning with tax year 2015, Mississippi requires the MS and Federal tax return to stay linked. In order to file the MS return, you have the following options:

  • E-file the MS return and the federal Form 1040 together. Remove any option to suppress the federal return on EF Selections screen or under Setup > Options > EF.
  • Transmit MS after the federal return has been e-filed and accepted. An A ack must show on the ESUM screen.
  • Paper-file the MS return. If the federal return will not be transmitted and accepted electronically, the MS return will have to be paper-filed.

Note: An acceptance for a federal extension only, Form 4868, does not allow for the transmittal of the MS return by itself.
