Hosting on Rightworks: Transition from Foxit PDF Editor Pro to Adobe Acrobat Reader - Frequently Asked Questions

 

Why is Rightworks discontinuing Foxit and adopting Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF viewing?
Rightworks has made the strategic decision to transition from Foxit PDF Editor Pro to Adobe Acrobat Reader. This shift allows Rightworks to enhance the PDF reading experience for its valued customers. Adobe is renowned for its reliability, robust encryption, and advanced protection features, making it the preferred choice for leading businesses. Plus, Adobe Acrobat Reader is available free of charge.

​When will the transition take place?
Foxit will be discontinued on June 1, 2024, at which time Adobe Acrobat Reader will become the default PDF viewer in your Rightworks environment.

Do I need to take any action to remove Foxit PDF from my environment?
No, you don't need to take any action. Rightworks will handle all necessary updates to configure Adobe Acrobat Reader as your default PDF viewer. The company is dedicated to ensuring a smooth and seamless transition for you.

What are the costs associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader?
Adobe Acrobat Reader is accessible for free, and the Rightworks team will configure it as your default PDF viewer in your cloud environment. If you wish to utilize other Adobe subscriptions within the Rightworks environment, you must acquire a license directly from Adobe.

Please be aware that Rightworks supports the following Adobe subscriptions only: Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, Acrobat for Teams, and Creative Cloud All Apps.

What does this mean for my bill?
In your next billing cycle, the Foxit line-item adjustment will be removed from your invoice.

Will I still be able to access Foxit in the Rightworks environment after the discontinuation date?
Unfortunately, no. After the discontinuation date, access to Foxit in the Rightworks environment will no longer be available. Rightworks recommends transitioning to Adobe Acrobat Reader for continued secure PDF viewing. For instructions on manually making Acrobat your default PDF viewer, see Knowledge Base article 17791.
